Introduction

Tracie and John, welcome…

Love in marriage is something beyond the warmth and glow and excitement and romance of being deeply in love. It is caring as much about the welfare and happiness of your marriage, and of each other, as your own.

Real love is not about being totally absorbed in each other but about looking outward in the same direction, together. Love makes burdens lighter because the weight is divided and makes joys greater because they are shared.

The special thing about love is that, while it may be an experience shared by many, to every person who falls in love, it is a unique and precious happening. Treasure your journey together so far, treasure this moment and treasure the joys that will come your way as husband and wife.

The Asking

The Vows

Exchanging of Rings

The wedding ring is a symbol of the promises made here today. May the wedding band be a reminder to all of the vows John and Tracie have made and a witness to the world of the commitment of marriage. These rings are a symbol of your unity, a sign of your promise and unending love which you will give to each other.

John, as you place the ring on Tracie’s finger, please repeat after me:

A New Season

This is not the first cycle of your lives together. Rather than start new, this ceremony represents a new season. Just as spring is a time of planting, and summer a time of growth, this cycle represents the harvest of growth, maturity, and abiding respect. Past success, failures, disappointments, and joy simply nourish this harvest, providing a rich and stable place from which to grow together as the cycle of life continues.

Declaration of Marriage

John and Tracie, you have declared all life together in marriage. You have symbolised your union by your vows and exchange of rings. May you retain the strength you need to keep the promises you have made to each other today. It gives me great pleasure now to declare you to be husband and wife.
