The Wedding Reception

Vanuatu is the Cuisine Capital of the South Pacific thanks to excellent local beef and seafood and fresh vegetables & fruit as well as creative chefs offering anything from Asian Fusion to French with flair.

We have a number of menus (set menus and a la carte) from various restaurants as well as less formal options like finger food, Melanesian feasts or beach BBQs. It's really a case of whatever you want! As well as wonderful meal options we can also arrange for local dancers, live music, a DJ or venues where you can take your own compilation CDs and dance the night away.

For couples:
Many restaurants can prepare a special table for two with your own waiter/waitress. Our favourite restaurants include Tilly's (can set a table at the end of the jetty at sunset); by the lagoon at Bungalow: Ate at Sunset Bungalows; by the beach at Tamanu on the Beach, The Officer's Club at Benjor Beach Club, Eratap Beach Resort and Roxy's on the Lagoon at Erakor Island Resort (won Vanuatu Chef of the Year 2007).

For couples with guests:
Again, the options are many and varied from a marquee with sand under your feet and a dance floor to a traditional Melanesian feast and entertainment in a local village. All resort restaurants can arrange something special or, away from your resort we recommend Tilly's, Bungalow:Ate, Tamanu on the Beach, Chill Restaurant, Waterfront Bar & Grill, The Officer's Club, Eratap Beach Resort, Roxy's on the Lagoon and Moo Bar & Grill at Moorings (with Rumours Nightclub nearby).

A nice way to start an evening of celebration whether it is just the two of you or a group is a Sunset Cruise on Port Vila Harbour with Meridien Charters (nibbles and three drinks included in the price).

Prices, naturally, vary depending on the number of courses and whether you would like seafood but as a guide, between $40 and $60 per person and beverage packages can be arranged.

Starters (1300-1380 vatu or AUD$15-16 each)

• Thai style prawn and fish cakes with sweet and sour dipping sauce • Risotto with char grilled prawns, sage, pine nuts and pancetta crisps • Pan fried scallops with orange and fennel salad, hazelnut vinaigrette

Main Meals (2300 vatu or AUD$26.50 each)

• Turmeric and coriander Teouma prawn curry with steamed jasmine rice, pickled vegetables and chilli jam • Pan fried free range chicken breast, roast kumala, roast garlic and rosemary and honey vinaigrette • Crispy skinned poulet fish fillet, orange and fennel salad, dill and caper salsa • Red curry of poulet fish, shredded green pawpaw salad, steamed jasmine rice and chilli jam • Aged sirloin steak (280g) with café de Paris butter, petite salad and chips
